Our Legacy

The Law Office of George W. Weaver is rooted in the life and career of George W. Weaver (1941–2024), whose service, discipline, and devotion to the law shaped decades of legal advocacy in North Georgia.

Due to his mother, Ruby Blackwell Weaver's influence, Mr. Weaver’s commitment to excellence began early and never wavered, which allowed him to be the first high school and college graduate of our family.

His life reflected a rare breadth of service: employee of the Georgia Marble Company, United States Army Green Beret combat veteran, law enforcement officer, investigator for the district attorney's office, assistant district attorney, district attorney, and lastly, he established this law firm and practiced as a defense/trial attorney. Each role undoubtedly strengthened his understanding of the law and justice system; and reinforced his belief that the Constitution must be protected, without exception.

Mr. Weaver served with distinction in the City of Atlanta Police Department, the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, and as the first District Attorney of the Appalachian Judicial Circuit. With more than forty years in practice, Mr. Weaver earned a reputation as a formidable courtroom advocate—prepared, principled, and unwavering. Judges and attorneys knew that when Mr. Weaver entered the courtroom; the case would be tried seriously and without shortcuts.

Even when his health was declining, Mr. Weaver's passion for the law remained strong, as one of his final desires was to return to the courtroom, so he could try "just one more case."  Sadly, after a life well lived, Mr. Weaver passed away on June 27, 2024, at his home in Jasper, surrounded by his loved ones.  However, on June 28, 2024, his family fulfilled one of his final wishes as he returned to the courtroom that "one last time," while "lying in state" at the Pickens County Courthouse, surrounded again by his loved ones, as well as his friends, colleagues, and members of the judiciary who gathered to honor his life and legacy.

Mr. Weaver was a devoted husband to his wife, Brenda, a proud father to his five children, and an even prouder grandfather. Mr. Weaver was a man of faith, and a steadfast believer in education, family, and service. His life was defined by commitment—to God, his country, his family, and the practice of law.

A life.... well done.

Going Forward

Today, Mr. Weaver's legacy and law firm continue under the guidance of Mr. Weaver's son, George W. Weaver, Jr.

For the last 10 years, having practiced alongside his father and learning firsthand the standards by which this law firm was built, George W. Weaver, Jr. now carries forward the responsibility of serving our clients with the same integrity, preparation, passion, dedication, diligence, and respect for the law that defined his father’s career.

While each generation brings its own individuality, the core principles of the Law Office of George W. Weaver remain unchanged.

The Law Office of George W. Weaver continues to stand on a foundation of passion, dedication, preparation, diligence, integrity, and steadfast advocacy.

While being guided by his father's legacy, George W. Weaver, Jr.'s advocacy is shaped by his knowledge and experience, and he is relentlessly focused on the future of all those we serve.

I cannot promise nor guaranty any outcomes, but I will ensure that every time someone comes to this law firm and trusts us during one of the most difficult moments of their life: 1) We will take that responsibility with the upmost seriousness, 2) We will prepare thoroughly, speak honestly, and advocate with care and commitment, 3) Every client will be treated with respect, 4) Every case will receive focused attention, and

5) Every decision will be made with integrity.
